World Card Making Day 2019 & announcing our Guest Designers!

Good morning!  The month is drawing to a close & as October draws near we wanted to remind you of our yearly tradition here at Sketch N Scrap of celebrating World Card Making Day all month long!  The party kicks off on Saturday October 5th at 9 am CST with our first EXCLUSIVE card sketch and then every Saturday thereafter in October we will be announcing another EXCLUSIVE card sketch to celebrate World Card Making Day!!

This year we are excited to be bringing on FOUR Guest Designers to help inspire us all with their talented card making skills!!  Please join us in welcoming the following ladies as Guest Designers for the month of October!!
Hi everyone, my name is Barbara and I live in Sunrise Beach, MO, which is on the Lake of the Ozarks.  We moved to our lake front home just over 2 years ago from Kansas City and I have to say we love the slow pace of lake life.   I have my scrap room set up in a spare bedroom with a full view of the lake and I love being in here.   Which is good because it is a rare day that I'm not in here scrapping.  I do mostly layouts for all my family members but also like to do card making.   It's been years since I bought a store bought card.   I started scrapping about 12 years ago when my daughter gave me a tote full of scrapbooking supplies and I haven't stopped since.   I was addicted immediately with my first layout.    I also like to do Project Life and this is my 6th full year of doing that.  I'm married to Arthur and between us we have 4 kids and 8 grandkids.    So that gives me plenty of subject matter to work with.    Plus I also love making albums of any trips I have ever been on.  But I would have to say I love best all my Christmas albums I have made.   I am keeping them in chronological order and I started back in 1951, the year I was born and to date I have seven 3D ring
albums full.    As I said I'm addicted to this awesome hobby.

It started with coloring books and paper dolls. I developed my photo taking fondness in elementary school. All these years since I have been making albums. Playing with paper changed for me in 2006 when I discovered rubber stamps and card making. My current loves are pretty papers, especially flowers and birds, trying to get better at watercolor technique. Most of my time is spent between scrapbook pages and greeting cards, with the occasional disappearing into my sewing room.

Lu Loy:
Hello from Northwest North Carolina! I'm Lu and I've been married to my husband Mike for 40 years. We have a daughter who lives right outside of Chicago.  I can't really remember when I started using sketches...best guess would be 5-6 years ago. I can tell you, however, that my scrapping style totally changed and it continues to evolve. Almost every single layout I do begins with a sketch. When I discovered Sketch N Scrap I really got into card making. The card sketches I find here are simple, not fussy, and that complements my scrapping style. When I'm not scrapping, I like to sew, cross stitch and read. I'm happy to be one of the Guest Designers for World Card Making Day!

Sandi Pressley:
Hi, I am Sandi Pressley from Palm Coast, Florida which is on the east coast of the state between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. I am recently retired from selling roofing and building materials and am enjoying my retirement so far more than I even imagined. I have been a paper crafter for nearly 13 years now. I love all size canvases from cards and travelers notebooks to 12x12 traditional layouts. I was born and raised in Chicago. When Dave and I were married in 2003 we moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we lived for 4 years until moving to Florida. I have two sons that still live in the Chicago area and they have given me 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 18 to 8...... Jake, Cole, Abby and Izzy. Their pictures and activities fill the scrapbooks on my shelves.  Besides crafting, I like to read, go out to lunch with friends, go to the gym and research future home improvements to keep my husband busy on the weekends. We are soon to become dog parents to a French Bulldog puppy. We are really excited!

I know these lovely, talented and creative ladies will inspire you with all of their amazing cards using our FOUR exclusive card sketches!  Make sure and follow us here on the blog or on Facebook or Instagram to be notified when our sketches go live! We hope you enjoy celebrate our month long celebration of World Card Making Day!!

October's Guest Designer

We are restarting an older trend that we used to do a few years back, we have decided to bring back a Guest Designer every month here at Sketch N Scrap!  This is a great way for those who can't commit to a longer term to jump in and share their creativity for one short month!  Today I pleased to welcome back a familiar face and long time friend of Sketch N Scrap ......Amy Pitts!!!   Amy was one of the original DT members at Sketch N Scrap!

Please join me in welcoming Amy this month as she inspires us with her amazing creativity during BOTH our Fall Fun Crop AND here on the blog!!!   Here is a little more about Amy:
My name is Amy from DeKalb IL, my husband Kenny and I are the modern day Brady Bunch he had 2 sons and 1 daughter and I have 3 daughters so now we have 6 kids among us. Only my youngest lives with us all the rest of them are adults. Our two oldest children both have families of their own so we also have 5 grandchildren. Lots of great memories to scrapbook and lots of reasons to send out cards on a regular basis.  I have been artsy my whole life but in 1995 I discovered scrapbooking and soon after stamping. This year I also ventured into Pocket Scrapbooking, I have tried it several times in the past and didn't get very far but so far so good this time. It has been nice to scrapbook the every day in pockets and then add in some pages for my really special moments on a 12 x 12 or a mini album. It is fun to blend stamping, and scrapbooking together and I enjoy making ABC items (anything but a card),home decor items, and planners. Basically I just love papercrafts!!
To see more of Amy's beautiful projects stop by her blog: Paisley's Playhouse!

Starting later this month we will be starting back our tradition of having a special sketch for our Guest Designer competition!  We will post our first sketch in our Fall Fun Crop soon and those who would like to possibly be chosen for our November Guest Designer spot will be able to complete their card or layout based on the sketch for a chance to win a spot as Guest Designer!! Look for more information soon on our Facebook page!

December Layout Guest Designer

Here is our last Guest Designer for the year. Please welcome Darlene!
My name is Darlene Whalley, I am 48 years old, and I started scrapbooking about 15 years ago. I began because I think it's a beautiful way to display photos and it's the perfect creative outlet for me - there are so many different techniques, styles and yummy supplies to play with! Plus I can pass the scrapbooks down to my children when they are older. I live in a small town of almost 15,000 in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. I have lived here all my life. I am a full-time nurse, working permanent 12 hour night shifts on a surgical unit. This is my 25th year being a nurse. I have two wonderful children, a boy and a girl. My girl is the youngest, just turned 17, so before I know it I will be an empty-nester. I am married to my best friend, who puts up with my scrapbook addiction. :) I am VERY excited to be the Sketch n Scrap guest designer this month!!!

Darlene's layout is great with such adorable photos! I love the snowflakes and doily! Thanks for sharing with us Darlene.

November Card Guest Designer

Today I have for you our November Card Guest Designer Jean.
HI, my name is Jean and I am so excited to be Guest Designing here at SketchNScrap. I live in Michigan and am mom to two adult children! One was married in September and the other will be married next June. I continue to scrap their lives as much as possible. Over the past few years I have also started making more cards – thank you cards especially. I often never know where to start and that is why sketches are so important. These allow me to head to my stash, grab some paper and get to work.  Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to work with these sketches!

Jean's card is absolutely beautiful, I especially love the added hearts and the inking. Thanks for inspiring us with a wonderful card Jean!

November Layout Guest Designer

Meet our November Guest Designer Leah Burgett:

Sketch-N-Scrap’s November sketch was perfect for the pictures I took on a surprise weekend trip that my lovely husband surprised us with last month.  As you can tell from the pictures we went to the beach and the Okaloosa Pier is a favorite spot of ours to visit.  I kept my layout very close to the sketch.  The only thing I did different was I turned one of the pictures.  If you would like to see close ups of this layout or any other layouts please visit my blog: www.leahbslayouts.blogspot.com.  Thanks again SNS for another great challenge!

Leah put together a wonderful layout for us. The papers work so well with the photos. Love that "boardwalk" paper! Thanks Leah!

August Layout Guest Designer

Please join me in welcoming our August Guest Designer Hee Sun Kim.
My name is Hee Sun Kim.
I live in Seoul, Korea with my father, mother and an older brother.
I found such a beautiful handmade card on the Internet while searching for collage techniques and images I could use to decorate my personal planner. I was very much surprised to find out that there were so many people in the world making cards. I am enjoying this craft to this day! I am seeking a unique and vintage mixed media. To express the feeling, I have used many materials and made various attempts. I am continuously seeking inspiration, making an effort to share it, teaching students every day and making works.
Above all, I found a joy of my life through this crafts so that I am happy to share it.

Hee Sun Kim's layout is absolutely beautiful! I love the subtle colors and the rich colors in the photos. The embellishments are wonderful as well, I especially love the title piece.
